💡 The concept of Primary Workplace is especially useful when your organisation spans multiple buildings.
When a user can only book desks or parking in one building, things stay simple — their Primary Workplace is that building. No need to set anything.
But when users can access several buildings, that's where the Primary Workplace steps in. It becomes their default office — a reference point for various features in Waldo.
Why is the Primary Workplace useful?
Waldo uses the Primary Workplace to:
- Answer questions like "Who’s at the office today?"
- Display how many first aiders are on-site
- Provide clearer insights into space usage
How is the Primary Workplace set?
You’ve got two options:

Set it manually
Go to the Waldo Admin Portal, open Users, choose the user, and click Edit.
Then select Primary Workplace from the dropdown. -
Let Waldo do the work
Waldo can automatically assign a Primary Workplace based on the user’s weekly booking habits.
⚠️ Note: If the user only has access to one building, the Primary Workplace won’t appear — it’s already obvious which one it is!
