Waldo can display your direct reports and teammates at a glance.
- When you're a manager, Waldo can automatically display your direct reports, as below:
- When you're part of a team, with a common manager, Waldo can display your teammates.
- Waldo also displays colleagues you interact with the most, either through emails, file sharing, or Microsoft Teams
How does Waldo retrieve the information from "My teammates"?
This info comes from your Microsoft 365 tenant using Graph APIs. Waldo shows colleagues you connect with most—via email, file sharing, or Teams. 🧠
ℹ️ Information: Waldo does not scan your emails or your Teams chat. This information is directly retrieved from your Microsoft 365 configuration and Graph APIs.
You can update your "My teammates" list, but not the "My team" or "My direct reports" list.
How does Waldo retrieve the information from "My team" and "My direct reports"?
This comes from your Microsoft 365 tenant, using the hierarchy feature.
How to check if the information retrieved from Waldo is correct?
To double-check what Waldo sees, you can view your organization hierarchy in Microsoft Teams:
- In Teams, click your profile in the upper-right.
- Click your avatar → select Organization.
- If you don’t see an Organization view, your tenant may not be using the hierarchy/manager field feature.
ℹ️ Information: If you don't see, your organization may not use the hierarchy feature.
How do I know if I'm using the hierarchy feature?
Here’s how to check:
- Go to https://admin.microsoft.com → Users → Active users
- Select a user and inspect the Manager field—if it’s blank, the hierarchy feature may not be configured.
If your organization is using the hierarchy feature but you still can't see the "My direct reports" tab
- Make sure you’ve granted consent to Waldo: Grant Consent to Use Waldo – Help Center
- If everything is set up correctly but it still doesn't work—reach out! Open a ticket with Waldo Support and we’ll check things on our end. 🔍
