Why do I see “Your administrator has configured the application Waldo to block users unless they are specifically granted (‘assigned’) access to the application”?
ℹ️ If you’re seeing this message when launching Waldo — even though it worked before — the root cause is often a user permission issue in Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure Active Directory).
Here’s how to resolve it with the help of your Microsoft Entra administrator:
✅ Step-by-step instructions
-
Sign in to Microsoft Azure
Ask your administrator to log in at https://portal.azure.com -
Open Microsoft Entra ID
Go to Microsoft Entra ID → Enterprise applications → Search for Waldo. -
Check Sign-in activity
Open the Waldo application, then go to Activity → Sign-in logs.
Look for any anomalies or errors related to the user’s sign-in attempt. -
Verify access assignment settings
Under Manage, click Properties.
Ensure Assignment required is set to No. -
If Assignment required is set to Yes, then:
- Go to Users and Groups.
- Make sure the user is explicitly listed. If not, add the user. If they are already listed, remove them and add them again.
💡 This setting determines whether users need to be manually assigned to the app before they can use it. If not configured correctly, access will be blocked — even for existing users.
