The First Aiders and Fire Wardens Alerting Feature in Waldo helps ensure a quick and coordinated response during an on-site emergency. It allows users to instantly notify trained colleagues directly within the Waldo app.
Assigning First Aider and Fire Warden Roles
Users can be identified as First Aiders or Fire Wardens in two ways:
- Users can define their own role directly in the Waldo app.
- Administrators can assign or manage these roles from the Admin Portal.
Once a role is assigned, the user becomes part of the emergency alert system.
When Is the Emergency Feature Available?
The Emergency icon appears in the Waldo app only when a user is on site.
- The icon is displayed at the bottom-right corner of the app.
- If the user is not on site, the Emergency icon will not be visible.
This ensures that alerts are relevant and only reach users who can respond.
How to Send an Emergency Alert
When a user taps the Emergency icon:
- Waldo automatically creates a group chat.
- All on-site First Aiders and Fire Wardens are added to this chat.
- A message is sent to inform them that an emergency alert has been triggered.
This allows all responders to be notified at the same time.
How Are First Aiders and Fire Wardens Notified?
Notifications are sent directly through the Waldo app via the group chat. Responders can:
- Reply immediately in the chat
- Ask questions such as “What’s happening?” or “Where are you located?”
- Confirm they are on their way or explain how they can help
There is no separate “accept” button. Responders signal their availability and actions by replying in the group chat.
Key Benefits
- Fast and simple emergency alerting
- Real-time communication in one shared chat
- No need for phone calls or external tools
- Alerts are limited to on-site responders only
This feature helps improve workplace safety by ensuring that First Aiders and Fire Wardens can be reached quickly and can coordinate their response efficiently.
