Applicable plans: ❎ The free plan, ✅ The complete plan, ✅ On-demand plan
As a user, you can post a message on the Waldo calendar for your colleagues. Perfect for light-hearted updates ("I'll bring croissants 🍩!") or serious notes ("Elevator under maintenance").
1 - Calendar Messages: what is it?
Waldo's Calendar Messages help make workplaces feel warmer and more connected. The feature is enabled by default—partially at first.
Users can share messages through the calendar, from helpful alerts to fun celebrations.
You can choose to make messages visible only to your team or broadcast them across the entire company.
2 - How it works
Once enabled, just click the “+” button under the date on your calendar to post a message.
This opens a message window where you can type your update.
Need to delete it? Just click the trash icon.
Want to react or respond? Click the message to open the connected Teams Group Chat.
Replies and emoji reactions are also visible directly in the Waldo calendar.
3 - Allow users to respond and react
Waldo can create a Teams Group Chat for every message. This lets users reply or react right from Teams.
To activate this:
- Go to https://admin.hellowaldo.app
- Log in with your Microsoft 365 account.
- Head to Global Settings > Features activation and consent
- Enable: Allow Teams Group Chat with Calendar Messages
4 - Defining permissions
By default, users can send messages to:
- Specific users: Pick them from a list.
- Predefined groups: Teammates, teams, or direct reports.
- Specific areas: Anyone with access to those areas will see the message.
Want to change who can send what? Here’s how:
- Head to https://admin.hellowaldo.app
- Authenticate with your Microsoft 365 account.
- Go to Users and select the user you want to update.
- Scroll to Can send calendar messages to
- Choose Specific areas and select the relevant areas.
Now your calendar is not just where plans happen—it’s where people connect too. 🎉
