1 - Prerequisite: Create an area and desks
Before you can upload a map, you must create your space hierarchy (the building, the area, and then the desks).
- Log in to the Waldo Management Portal.
- In the main menu, go to the Desks and parking tab.
- Select the building of your choice.
- Click the Add area button.
- Enter an Area name (e.g., "1st floor Open Space"), define the Area desk type (Numbered desks or Unnumbered desks), and pick a color. Click Save.
- Inside this new area's view, click Add desks.
- Specify the Number of desks to generate and their Desks labels (e.g., "D"), then click Create desks.
2 - Upload your map
- Navigate to the Maps page via the main menu.
- Click the + Add new map button.
- Select the building and type in a Map name.
- Click Upload image and select your floor plan file (.png or .jpg, maximum 10MB).
- Once the image is displayed, click Save.
3 - Configure your map (Editing Modes)
To bring your map to life, you have three modes at the top left of the interface:
- View (Eye icon): To preview the final result as users will see it.
- Place marker (Location pin icon): To position your desks and equipment.
- Shape (Square with dots icon): To visually define area boundaries.
Place desks (Place marker mode)
Click the Place marker icon to position your desks:
- In the left side panel,click on the Area name you want to configure to display its list of desks.
- Click on the first desk in the list (e.g., D1), then left-click on the map to drop the marker.
- Adjust a placed marker: In the left panel, click the menu icon (...) next to a desk name to select Move marker or Delete marker.
- Tip: No need to go back to the list! Simply keep left-clicking on the map to place the following desks in sequence.
Define areas (Shape mode)
Once your desks are placed, click the Shape icon to define your area boundaries:
- Automatic: Waldo does the work for you! It instantly generates the area shape by wrapping around the desks already placed on the map. This is the fastest method.
- Manual: Draw the boundaries yourself. Use consecutive left-clicks to place each point of your polygon. While drawing, you can right-click to undo the last point placed.
- If you want to clear everything and start over, use the trash icon.
Click Save in the top right corner when finished.
4 - Place items and points of interest
- While still in Place marker mode, expand the Items section in the left side panel.
- Select a category (e.g., Emergencies > Fire extinguishers).
- Click on the map to drop the pins.
- Click Save in the top right corner to confirm.
